This vintage 1950s semi-flush ceiling light is a classic postwar fixture designed for everyday American homes. The shallow frosted glass bowl features applied white enamel floral garlands and ribbon swags, a popular early-1950s decorative detail that adds warmth without excess ornament.
The semi-flush form sits just below the ceiling, allowing light to reflect upward while softly diffusing illumination throughout the room. It delivers a comfortable, even glow—ideal for bedrooms, hallways, kitchens, and breakfast nooks in postwar cottages, Cape Cods, and early ranch homes.
Finished with a new custom powder-coated steel canopy, socket cup, and porcelain socket assembly, this fixture reflects the durable, practical construction of the era. Subtle, well-balanced, and built to last, it brings quiet mid-century character to both period interiors and thoughtfully updated spaces.
Measurements: The fixture measures 13 1/4 inches wide and 8 1/2 inches tall. The height can be adjusted by setting the ball length on the ceiling side of the chain and then snipping off the excess beaded chain.
Condition: The fixture features a new porcelain socket, wires, wire grommet, mounting bracket, nickel thumb nuts, nickel beaded chain, pure white powder-coated finish, and installation hardware. The vintage glass is in good condition and shows its antiquity with only minor inconsistencies, including a small scratch and a pinhole in the silkscreen enamel shade.
Electrical: The fixture uses a standard medium base bulb, a 60-watt bulb, suitable for dry locations. The light fixture is custom and, therefore, is not U.L. Listed.
