Vintage White King Laundry Soap Wooden Crate Face

$ 79.99

The Los Angeles Soap Co., with its iconic White King label, had operated for 127 years, becoming a household staple in California. However, facing financial losses, the company had to wind down its operations and sell its assets, as Chairman Andrew K. Forthmann Sr announced in 1988. Fierce competition within the household soap and detergent industry, dominated by giants like Procter & Gamble and Unilever, had contributed to the demise of many regional soap makers, including Los Angeles Soap Co. Despite its closure, the company's valuable real estate assets in downtown Los Angeles present opportunities for redevelopment or joint ventures, potentially offering a new chapter beyond its soap-making legacy.

Measurements: The crate end measures 23/8 inches wide, 9 3/4 inches tall, and 1/4 inches thick.

Condition: The crate face is in vintage condition. Color inconsistencies, paint drips, nail holes, dings, splits and knots help to show its antiquity. The wood has been cleaned, polished, and waxed to bring out the rich wood tones.
